Project 1 - Background Survey
Overview
The first project is really a non-project, but a way for
me to get to know each of you and your backgrounds. You are
required to do two things: submit information about yourself
to for the class roster and complete the background survey.
Rest assured that the next project will be a bit more challenging!
Class Roster
In a virtual class like this, I really feel that it's important
to put "people" behind the email addresses. I also
need to collect some data for my own use, such as your phone
number. Review the class roster
to see which information is public -- all other fields are
for my eyes only. You are welcome to edit this information
at any time during the class.
Here's how you can submit your info for the class roster
(and update it at anytime during the course):
- Go to the Grades page for the course.
- Enter your last name, first name, and password (the default
password is your first name) and click Submit.
- You should then see a page with your grades and personal
information -- if you don't, then you didn't enter the corrent
name and password. If you have trouble with this step, please
email me to double
check how I have your .name and password entered into the
database.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on Change.
- Make the appropriate entries and/or changes and click
on Save.
Please make sure that you change the password field so that
your grade report is kept private.
Background Survey
For the most part, the class is already set up, but I am
open to changing things a bit in order to best serve your
needs. This survey will help me to understand your background
and your needs. The results are summarized anonymously, but
I do need your name so I can record that you completed project
1.
