This course focuses is on left ventricular systolic function. The course covers the basics of the cardiac cycle and left ventricular systolic function pathology. This is followed by a tutorial on how to measure left ventricular systolic function with echocardiography.
SCA Micro Courses
The Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists (SCA) is an international member organization with cardiac, thoracic and vascular anesthesiologists that promotes excellence in clinical care, education, and research.
The use of portable bedside ultrasound machines is dramatically changing patient assessment and management in the peri-operative, anesthesia, critical care, emergency medicine, surgery and internal medicine fields. It is being rapidly adopted as mainstream practice.
The SCA have collaborated with iTeachU to deliver the SCA Micro Courses -Clinical Ultrasound & Echocardiography to physicians around the world. These comprehensive courses offer echocardiography (TTE and TEE) and other uses of clinical ultrasound including vascular access, lung ultrasound, ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia, FAST and DVT assessment.
The aim of the SCA Micro Courses is to provide topic focused educational courses in specific learning areas. These short courses are cost and time effective with the average learning time of 1 month for a single course or 3 months for a package course.
The SCA Micro Courses are endorsed by The Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists (SCA). SCA Certificate of Completion will be sent via email upon all assessments and case studies are completed.
The SCA Micro Courses provide flexible eLearning so students can study when and wherever convenient. Course materials can be accessed through the iTeachU app on smartphones and tablets with iOS, Android or Windows systems. Once the course materials have been downloaded on smartphones and tablets, all the interactive media content can be viewed offline (however internet access is required periodically to login or re-verify login credentials). Course materials can also be accessed online using a web browser.

SCA Assessment of Right Ventricular Systolic Function
Impaired right ventricular function is a less common cause of haemodynamic instability in the perioperative and critical care setting, than left ventricular dysfunction, but often produces more severe consequences. The course focuses is on right ventricular systolic function. The course covers right ventricular systolic function pathology.
SCA Assessment of Diastolic Function
This course focuses on left ventricular diastolic function. The course starts with the estimation of left atrial pressure, followed by a tutorial on how to measure left ventricular diastolic function with echocardiography.
