The Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists (SCA) is an international member organization with cardiac, thoracic and vascular anesthesiologists that promotes excellence in clinical care, education, and research.
The SCA have collaborated with iTeachU to deliver to its members the SCA-On-Cue (Online Clinical Ultrasound and Echocardiography) Level 1 and Level 2 Course to physicians around the world. These comprehensive courses offer echocardiography (TTE and TEE) and other uses of clinical ultrasound including vascular access, lung ultrasound, ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia, FAST and DVT assessment. Also, SCA in conjunction with the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and iTeachU have collaborated to deliver the Basic Perioperative TEE program. This training and accreditation program complies with the provisions set out by the National Board of Echocardiography.

Basic Perioperative TEE Program
The Basic Perioperative TEE program focuses on the basic hemodynamic state, ventricular function and valve pathology.
Perioperative Ultrasound Course
The perioperative ultrasound course (PoCUS) is a collaboration between SCA and iTeachU that provides education to help address the professional practice gaps found in the assessment.
SCA-On-Cue Level 1
The SCA-On-CUE Level 1 offers transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), surface ultrasound use and basic transesophageal echocardiography (TEE).
SCA-On-CUE Subject 1: Principles of Ultrasound and iHeartScan
The SCA-On-CUE subject 1 tutorials form the building block for later subjects within the course. Subject 1 offers an overview of anatomy, physics, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography as well as artefact generation.
SCA-On-CUE Subject 2: Ultrasound Guided Procedures
SCA-On-CUE subject 2 outlines the technique of using ultrasound to guide percutaneous procedures. Procedures will include vessel access, nerve blocks, and trauma-related procedures.
SCA-On-CUE Subject 3: Doppler Echocardiography
SCA-On-CUE subject 3 introduces Doppler Echocardiography to complement basic transthoracic echocardiography imaging.
SCA-On-CUE Subject 4: Ventricular Function
SCA-On-CUE subject 4 expands the knowledge of transthoracic echocardiography by learning pathophysiology and assessment of ventricular function, including in diastolic function.
SCA-On-CUE Level 2 Fast Track
The SCA-On-CUE Level 2 Fast Track incorporates the important building block subjects from Level 1 with Level 2 into one course.
