This course is one of several TTE case study series with a mix of pathology. Each of these series contains 10 transthoracic echocardiography case studies for participants to practise interpretation and reporting. These series do not have to be completed in order. Participants can choose any one or more series to study.
Personal Ultrasound (UltraScan)
The use of portable bedside ultrasound machines is dramatically changing patient assessment and management in the peri-operative, anesthesia, critical care, emergency medicine, surgery and internal medicine fields. It is being rapidly adopted as mainstream practice.
The aim of the Personal Ultrasound (UltraScan) Courses is to provide topic focused educational courses in specific learning areas. These short courses are cost and time effective with the average learning time of 1 month for a single course or 3 months for a package course.
Certificate of Completion will be sent via email upon all assessments and case studies are completed.
These courses provide flexible eLearning so students can study when and wherever convenient. Course materials can be accessed through the iTeachU app on smartphones and tablets with iOS, Android or Windows systems. Once the course materials have been downloaded on smartphones and tablets, all the interactive media content can be viewed offline (however internet access is required periodically to login or re-verify login credentials). Course materials can also be accessed online using a web browser.

Participants can choose any one or more series to study.
UltraScan – Ultrasound Guided Vascular Access
Ultrasound Guided Vascular Access covers the sonoanatomy and techniques to perform ultrasound-guided vascular access. Topics cover basic ultrasound guided vascular access techniques and covers central venous access including the internal jugular and axillary vein cannulation, peripheral upper limb arterial and venous access, and femoral arterial and venous access.
UltraScan – Ultrasound Guided Regional Anaesthesia
The focus of this course is to teach the anatomy, sonographic appearance, and technique of performing a wide variety of ultrasound guided nerve blocks. Specific areas covered include upper limb blocks, lower limb blocks, blocks of peripheral nerves, abdominal and thoracic blocks, and how to perform continuous peripheral nerve blocks.
UltraScan – Lung Ultrasound
The focus of this course is to teach the anatomy, sonographic appearance, and technique of performing lung ultrasound, and ultrasound guides pleural drain insertion. The knowledge is complemented by 10 clinical case studies.
UltraScan – TEE Introduction & Case Interpretation Series 1
This course introduces the participant to basic transesophageal echocardiography. Tutorials show how to perform a transesophageal echocardiography examination, how to assess basic haemodynamic state, and how to use two-dimensional and colour flow Doppler modalities to identify significant valve disease.
UltraScan – TEE Case Interpretation Series 2
This course is one of several TEE case study series with a mix of pathology. Each of these series contains 10 transesophageal echocardiography case studies for participants to practise interpretation and reporting. These series do not have to be completed in order. Participants can choose any one or more series to study.
UltraScan – TEE Case Interpretation Series 3
This course is one of several TEE case study series with a mix of pathology. Each of these series contains 10 transesophageal echocardiography case studies for participants to practise interpretation and reporting. These series do not have to be completed in order. Participants can choose any one or more series to study.
